To be clear, we are all in support of the best candidate. We are all in support for a leader to “save” us, and someone who represents us, individually. We are all in support of getting rid of Bush; even people that voted for him want him gone. Let there be no confusion — we all agree on that.

This is more than an election, this is not a democrat versus republican battle, and this is more than a choice for a leader. This is a generation war, and I hope you understand the implications of your choice. This is no matter that should be taken lightly. As the Atlantic Monthly put it “Goodbye to All That: Why Obama Matters“, are we going to look forward or keep bringing the past back for one more try. This is not about getting Bush out of office (That is inevitable) or keeping a republican from becoming president. This is about a leader willing to take a different approach to problems of the past 40 years.

“For Ojibwe People, making a decision with an eye on seven generations ahead means more than just making a long-term decision. It means taking into consideration the lives of seven generations of children.

The idea is: whatever you do today will impact things far into the future. If you pollute the air today, then generations from now, the air will be poisonous to breathe. Chopping down a tree today will mean depleted resources years from now, and so on.

According to Ojibwe tradition, thinking seven generations ahead means that your decisions are not selfish and rash. It means that your decisions take into consideration the circle of life. Although it is not always possible to plan so far in advance, it’s important to hold seven generations as an ideal.”

Democrats have always been more diverse in their interests and positions than Republicans… and as a result, a more fractured party. And fractured parties have a lot of upside when things go right, and will be left behind, if things go wrong. In my opinion, Hillary voters who think Obama voters will vote for her against McCain, are grossly mistaken. Obama losing the primary will alienate a generation from politics, including this election in ’08. I personally, have no doubt that Obama will win this Primary (and I do love the competition and the race that Hillary has been able to maintain, and with defect testimonials like The Monster: A Loyal Clinton Soldier Turns in His Badge, I get inspired every day)… This is part confidence and part hope. To that, I hope we understand the magnitude of our thoughts, positions, votes, and recommendations to our friends. This is more than you and me; this is for the next 7 generations…
